Upon our families transition from "city" life to quiet Okeechobee living I was quickly faced with having to find fun activities for our toddlers and teen without breaking the bank. Our land is nice and provides us with lots to do, but there was only so many times I could convince them this was all we needed. So we slowly began venturing out of our small piece of heaven and discovered our now favorite places to visit throughout the week. Here are the top three places you will be sure to "catch" up with us !
Okeechobee County Sports Complex
This sports complex is a ton of funfor all ages! The park where my younger children can enjoy the most appears to be a new playground, with a large covered picnic area with drink machines and restrooms. This is a great place to host a birthday party! The playground area is covered with mulch, and has many fun and interacting activities throughout the "fort" like design. There is even a separated toddler area with toddler swings. This complex also has tennis courts, baseball fields, football fields and even a swimming pool. This is where my teenager was able to enjoy hot summer days!
Kiwanis Park
This is a newly updated ADA Special needs accessible park! LOTS of fun. Lots of grassy area to play a fun game of catch or chasing your little one around. There is a covered picnic area, tennis courts and a skate park! The playground area has lots of climbing, sliding and swings. We always have a great time when we go.
Park Street
Park Street is in the center of town just south of State Road 70 and 441. We enjoy walking up and down the street visiting the local shops, sipping on our coffee from our favorite coffee shops or enjoying a delicious healthy shake from the nutrition store. My three year old enjoys our strolling up and down so much he is beginning to request going out for his "walk"!
