10 Summer Fun Ideas

Enjoy your Summer Vacation and not spend a ton of money!

  1. Homemade Popsicles are filled top to bottom in our freezer.  Reusable Popsicle molds are a must need! Fill them with fruit juice, water and real fruit. This way they can enjoy all all day!
  2. For sure a wading pool and/or sprinkler. Lots of outside play and a definite way stay cool. We enjoy lots of together time outside and this is one of our favorites.
  3. Be sure to have your backyard stocked with lots of interactive activities, such as Frisbees, bubbles, make a mini golf course, or mini baseball field. Check out your local dollar stores and  DIY craft ideas :) 
  4. Children’s Museums, they are a lot of fun and they typically offer lots of indoor and outside play. And the yearly passes are very reasonable!
  5. What is summer without a visit to the beach! Pack a pop up umbrella for shade, outside toys, lunches, snacks, toys and LOTS of sunscreen!
  6. Check for local fountains.  We are for sure there keeping cool many times throughout the week.
  7. Volunteer. There are many local organizations that may need your help!
  8. Local Community Pool. Have your pools schedule on hand and a “pool bag” ready to go!
  9. Check out the local movie theaters. Regal Cinemas typically has $1.00 movie days. ( will post theater locations and schedules as soon as we get the guide together)
  10. Visit a local nursing home. Call and speak with the events coordinator to schedule a day/time you can bring your little ones over to visit. Bring books, some special cookies, or perhaps a craft.
